Individual Placement & Support
Helping individuals find good jobs and further their education.
IPS helps people ages 15 and up with mental health challenges find competitive jobs they are interested in. Then, the program supports them to keep their job.
IPS Specialists also help youth and adults who want to continue their education.
IPS Supported Employment
Supported Employment helps people find local jobs that match their skills and interests. Having a job can help people feel more independent and more connected to others and their community.
IPS Employment Specialists help people:
- Set career goals
- Find jobs that match those goals
- Get support to keep their job and grow in their career
IPS Supported Education
Supported Education helps people who want to go to school or get job training. It helps them explore careers and find educational programs that fit their interests.
IPS Specialists support individuals through the whole process, from application to graduation.
IPS focuses on mainstream education programs that are based on factors like grades, age or past education. They do not promote education programs created for people with disabilities.
Programs include:
- High school
- GED classes
- Community colleges
- Job training schools
- Certificate programs (like cosmetology, cooking or truck driving)
- Four-year colleges and universities
It’s about more than a job or class.
Individual Placement & Support is about building a future with purpose, independence and connection to one’s community.
